Arrival into Laoag and more!

My mom was able to send a few pictures with captions to put on the blog this week but because they have super limited time, I wanted to give a few of my own updates based on things they have said to us kids too. Mom & Dad are having a great time. The general feeling that I get is that they feel so blessed to be there and blessed to be able to help where they are needed so much! They have been so busy (busy is an understatement!) since the very minute they stepped into Laoag! We love when we get to hear from them! The mission home is nice, they are dealing with a bit of a cockroach problem in the kitchen but are doing everything in their power to get rid of it quickly and don’t seem to be too worried! They were able to squeeze in a date night the other night and spent it trying to figure out grocery shopping, which is very different from back home and they think is pretty funny at times. They bought some "fresh" produce and meats and my mom has a whole system for cleaning the food which includes “zonrox” and is basically their version of bleach (to keep the diseases from the flies all over it at the market, and other diseases away). What we gather so far is that basically Dad is having nonstop meetings and trying to get everything organized in the mission offices (with moms help). Meanwhile Mom is getting the mission home all set up while being bombarded with texts from sick elders with everything from ear infections to vomiting to horrible varicose veins! She feels so bad for them, and tries to figure out how to best help. They had a fun “meet the president” yesterday at the stake center and were able to give talks, show family pictures and interview missionaries. They really, truly LOVE being able to mingle with and help these missionaries in any way possible. Thank you for all of your love, support and prayers! –Lacey

Our first MLC (Mission Leadership Council) -one day after our arrival in Laoag.  These people are incredible!!!

With Elder and Sister Nelson who are serving as a missionary couple here.  Stew and Mark served together here in the Philippines when they were young missionaries.  The Nelson’s have been a great help - before arriving and now!  They only have 2.5 months left to go and will head back home.
