The End is Near, but We're Not Slowing Down...

I have been looking at all our photos that we have taken over the past 3 years - making sure I have gotten all the ones I want before we leave. I don't want to miss even one of the reminders of this extraordinary experience. We have a lot of pictures of beautiful landscapes, and amazing experiences, but I admit that if all of them were only pictures of the beautiful faces of the Filipino people, I would be content. The Filipino people are faithful Christians, full of love, accepting of all, easy to smile and laugh, relaxed, and super resilient. They made a deep impression on Mark over 40 years ago when he served here as a young missionary, then on me when we made the short trip together here in 1992, and those feelings have been exponentially magnified this time around. We feel extremely blessed to have been involved in this integral work of helping people find Jesus Christ here at the top of the Philippines. Still saying goodbye to amazing missionaries... ...

Visit from Elder and Sister Wakolo

My parents just said goodbye to Elder and Sister Wakolo. They were originally scheduled to come a couple of days after the Typhoon that hit in September and since that was cancelled, this time, they took a whole week out of their schedule to visit. My parents only had amazing and great things to say about the visit! The Wakolo's are portrayed as incredible servants of the Lord that are humble, kind, smart, and amazing scriptorians! From them, my parents have felt encouraged going forward to study, memorize and know the doctrine even more and were inspired to have the missionaries do the same. Funny because in my eyes, my parents are amazing scriptorians! It is humbling to be reminded that we always have room to have our testimonies grow, and that there is always more knowledge to gain. Children Visit Mission

Last week Brady, Janay, Lacey, Nils, Rachel and I were able to travel to the Philippines to visit our parents and see the Laoag mission. It was incredible! We were able to do so many things and see quite a bit of the west side of the mission. We loved seeing the sights with our parents, but most of all we enjoyed being uplifted and edified by their spiritual strength. It was everything we could have asked for. The mirror in their dining room was still decorated with cards and letters from many of you. My mom said, "We were honestly pleasantly surprised at the Christmas cards and notes that were sent to us all this way! It really was so fun to receive each and every one! They lifted us and we felt such support and love - which we need! Please tell everyone Maraming Salamat! (Many Thanks)” We literally did SO many things while in the Philippines .
